Mauritania is a
ground of contact, a feature of union between the Maghreb and the Black
Africa, between Arab-Berber (the Moors ) present ones on all the territory
and the black populations of the South. Bordered with immense beaches, the Sahara of Mauritania offers its superb desert extent, made
of sand and rocks, of starlight nights under the tent open to the four winds, of fresh dates and
rough camels. It is a true desert, strewn with oasis, spreading out its dunes sand white
against the mountains of Adrar, hanging the stones of Inchiri in the red sand of Trarza.
It is everywhere of a mineral beauty, telling at the same time the Genesis and Atlantis, but
especially, the desert is alive! It moves with the liking of the wind, solidifies the
traces which the fennec leaves in the sand of the dunes in the early morning and sometimes lets
to us surprised by Moorish monotonous chants with the corner of a fire.
